The US Air Force Central Command has expressed deep concern over recent incidents of unsafe and unprofessional behavior exhibited by Russian military aircraft in Syria. According to reports, while three US MQ-9 drones were conducting their mission, three Russian fighter jets engaged in aggressive behavior towards the drones, violating established norms and protocols. The Russian jets dropped multiple parachute flares in front of the US drones, forcing them to take evasive maneuvers in order to avoid potential collisions or damage.

Furthermore, one Russian pilot positioned their aircraft in front of an MQ-9 and engaged the afterburner, deliberately impeding the operator’s ability to safely operate the drone. These actions not only jeopardize the safety of US personnel and equipment but also pose a threat to Russian forces operating in the same airspace.

This is not the first instance of unprofessional and unsafe actions by Russian air forces in Syria. Such behavior undermines the mutual trust and cooperation necessary for ensuring the safety of all forces involved in the region. The US Air Force Central Command strongly condemns these actions and emphasizes the need for adherence to established norms and protocols to prevent any miscalculations or incidents that could escalate tensions.

The safety and security of military operations in Syria are of paramount importance, and it is imperative that all parties involved prioritize professionalism and adhere to internationally recognized standards. The US Air Force Central Command is actively engaging with Russian counterparts to address these concerns and seek ways to enhance communication and de-escalate potential conflicts in the region. will closely monitor the situation and provide updates on any further developments or efforts towards ensuring the safe and professional conduct of military operations over Syrian airspace. Maintaining a stable and secure environment is essential for the effective pursuit of counterterrorism efforts and the preservation of regional stability.
