In a recent interview on Ukrainian Radio, Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, disclosed significant advancements in Ukraine’s missile program and the utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for defense purposes. Danilov’s statements shed light on Ukraine’s ability to strike targets deep within the Russian Federation, signaling a notable shift in the country’s military capabilities.

Since 2020, Ukraine has been actively pursuing two strategic initiatives: the development of its own missile program and the extensive deployment of drones. These efforts, as described by Danilov, have dramatically extended Ukraine’s capacity to strike targets located even as far as 1,500 kilometers away, well within the territory of its Eastern neighbor.

“The citizenship of the weapons that are used on the territory of the Russian Federation is Ukrainian. There are two areas that have been developed for a certain period of time – this is the missile program, which was approved back in 2020, to create our own Ukrainian missiles, and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, which are very powerfully deployed in our country today with the involvement of a large number of private companies. All this will bring its results,” said Oleksiy Danilov.

It is essential to note that Ukraine has emphasized that its military actions are strictly directed toward military facilities in the Russian Federation, refraining from targeting civilian objects such as schools and kindergartens. According to Danilov, Ukraine’s military objectives are clear: “We attack either factories or military productions, components that threaten our national security. We must put an end to this.”

Regarding the range of Ukrainian military capabilities, Danilov asserted that distances of 700, 1,000, and even 1,500 kilometers are no longer insurmountable obstacles. The developments in missile technology and the utilization of UAVs have been achieved through extensive collaboration with specialists, all in the pursuit of safeguarding Ukraine.

In response to questions about unconventional warfare tactics in the Russian Federation, Danilov distinguished between Ukrainian military actions and the activities of Russian partisans within Russia’s borders. He clarified, “If there are any partisans who are in the Russian forests and are dissatisfied with the regime established on the territory of Russia by a modern Hitler named Putin, then they have the right to use appropriate means of destruction from their territory. We cannot control what will be affected – oil refineries or other things. This is a separate direction of work on the territory of the Russian Federation by citizens of Russia.”

Ukraine’s relentless pursuit of advanced military capabilities underscores its commitment to defending its sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens. The ongoing development of its missile program and the strategic deployment of UAVs represent significant steps in achieving these objectives, marking a turning point in the nation’s defense capabilities.

As the situation in Eastern Europe continues to evolve, Ukraine’s advancements in missile technology and drone usage will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the regional geopolitical landscape. The international community will be closely monitoring these developments and their implications for the ongoing conflict in the region.
